Day for Girls Success

Day for Girls is a project we have been running for just over a year.  It helps girls in other countries to gain access to feminine hygiene products.  These packs have been made by dedicated volunteers who attend workshops monthly at our centre. We are very pleased and proud to be taking 20 full packs to York so they can be distrubuted to the villages and to the girls who need them. Well done everyone involved - a job well done x Click here to download a newsletter or visit our Day for Girls page for more info

Bride Shop Volunteers

We are looking for smart & friendly volunteers to help us in our 'Special Occasions' shop. The shop sells pre-loved bridal wear, prom dresses, boys & mens suits, bridesmaid outfits, mother of the bride outfits, hats and much more. We would love for the shop to be open 6 days a week like our other shops - we have lots of days/times available - between Monday-Saturday 10am-1pm OR 1pm-4pm The shop is very quiet but when the customer does arrive it is very important that they receive a warm & friendly welcome; someone to help them with planning their special day and/or occasion.  If you may be interested call 07766 227 536 or email manager@womensaidnel.org

Re-cycling voulnteers

Our recycling project is growing from strength to strength.  We get 1-2p for every item we recycle.  However in order to get this money we have to sort through hundreds of donated items. We are looking for volunteers with a real interest in recycling.  The job is very time consuming and we would really appreciate anyone who has a few hours to spare each week, to get in touch. Volunteers can do any hours, any days. Full training will be given. To see more about what we recycle, visit our Fundraising page.

Day for Girls

Days for Girls (DfG) is a world-wide project which involves women coming together to make washable, easy to use, feminine hygiene kits for girls in developing countries. In some countries, due to poverty, many girls have no feminine hygiene provision and can’t go to school during menstruation, therefore missing out on large parts of their education. (1 week in 4) We currently run small & friendly monthly workshops (Thurs evening / Sat morning) for women of all ages to help make up the low cost, cleverly designed kits, which are then packed by volunteers and delivered to the girls and women. Any skills (machine sewing, cutting, pinning, hand sewing, etc) Click here to download our newsletter or email for more information dfg@womensaidnel.org Come along to help make a difference and help change lives!

Collection Tubs

Could you or someone you know, have a collection tub in your office or on your shop counter to help raise money for domestic abuse victims/survivors? Every penny really does help and it all amounts up at the end of the year. If you would like a tub dropping off please give us a call or email manager@womensaidnel.org.
