We’re often asked what it’s like inside our Refuge, here at Women’s Aid NEL, as it’s often perceived as a bleak place to stay.
But far from it!
So we wanted to take a close look at the accommodation and facilities, and show you exactly what we provide for women and their families while they’re with us.
And with the help of images provided by one of our wonderful Ambassadors, Gary Davies Photography, we’re showcasing the amazing facilities at our Women’s Refuge.

The Refuge is a place where women escaping domestic abuse can live free from the threat of violence or other negative behaviours and while we’ve had a refuge here in North East Lincs for over 40 years, we’re proud of the quality of accommodation we provide, after it was totally refurbished in 2006.

The refuge has comfortable, self-contained, fully equipped flats, comprising living/dining room, bathroom, kitchen and two bedrooms and we also have bedsits for women with no children.

We always make sure that the quality of the accommodation is superb and you will have access to a comfortable communal room, where you can relax and meet other women staying in the Refuge.
Additionally, there is a laundry, computer room, children’s room and garden, where we make sure the children are kept occupied and there’s a quiet adult garden too.

The Refuge address is confidential and access is controlled by electronic security key fob access system and all staff and communal areas are situated on the ground floor, accessible only by the security fobs and covered by CCTV.
We take our women’s security very seriously at all times.

We have great facilities for children staying at the refuge, who have their own activity room and space that are fully equipped and staffed.
Our children’s workers offer emotional and practical support to the children and organise activities, events, support sessions, children’s meetings and much more.
