Volunteering

Our volunteers give thousands of hours of their time, and we’re so grateful for their dedication. They’re a fantastic team whose commitment makes a real difference.
People choose to volunteer for all sorts of reasons. Some have used our services and want to give back. Others are students or unemployed and looking to gain skills and experience. Some are retired and want to spend their time doing something meaningful, while others simply enjoy meeting new people.
Whatever your reason, no experience is needed. We provide as much training as you need, and volunteering is a great way to build skills, knowledge, and confidence.
Roles are varied: till work, serving customers, sorting donations, pricing, ironing, sorting furniture, and more. You can get involved in whatever interests you most.
You can also choose the days and times that suit you best. (Please note: volunteers are asked to arrive 10 minutes before, and stay 10 minutes after, their agreed shift times.)
See our Vacancies page for more details about specific roles.
Donate

Clothes
You can donate by dropping off any unwanted clothes.
We also get money to recycle old clothes – if you are throwing out old clothes, shoes, bags, belts that are worn out, stained, have holes, etc, we can still accept them for recycling!!
(If you label the bag ‘rags’ then we won’t sort through it when you drop it off).
Furniture
If you have unwanted furniture in good condition please drop it off to Hainton Square only.
We can arrange to pick up larger items if you need us to.
We also offer a delivery service for items bought in the shop.
The furniture shop also takes bedding and curtains.
Bric-a-Brac & Electrical items
Can be taken to any of the shops.
Books
Please bring any books to our Hainton Square shop.
Mobile Phones
We can sell used mobile on Ebay or in our shops.
Broken Jewellery
We can recycle old/broken costume jewellery to help us with fundraising – collected at all shops.
Used Stamps
Please tear around the used stamp from your envelopes and drop them off to us.
We would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work, all the people who donate items, and all the customers who buy from the shops.
If you are experiencing abuse, we're here to help.
If you need to talk, we’ll listen. Safe and confidential.
