Refuge Volunteer Assistants
The nature of the work undertaken means that this invitation is for women only and is exempt under Schedule 9 Part 1 of the Equalities Act 2010
Women’s Aid provide support, accommodation and practical help to thousands of victims and survivors of domestic abuse. We are currently looking for individuals to join our team at refuge in providing our ‘life saving’ and ‘life changing’ service. We need volunteers to help us with our volume of calls to the service and to assist support workers in some of their daily tasks. This is not a support role and is more of a reception / phone role but could give someone the skills and experience needed to go on and do support work in the future. Successful volunteers MUST be on a career path and you will need to evidence this – you will also need to be available for 3 days mandatory training. If you feel you are able to help us and are passionate about making a difference, then please read the job description and person spec in full and fill in the attached application form.
Please return forms to PO Box 399, Grimsby, DN32 0WZ
Closing date for applications forms is Friday 22nd November
Interviews will be held on Wednesday 4th December
Bride Shop Volunteers
We are looking for smart & friendly volunteers to help us in our ‘Special Occasions’ shop.
The shop sells pre-loved bridal wear, prom dresses, boys & mens suits, bridesmaid outfits, mother of the bride outfits, hats and much more.
We would love for the shop to be open 6 days a week like our other shops – we have lots of days/times available – between Monday-Saturday 10am-1pm OR 1pm-4pm
The shop is very quiet but when the customer does arrive it is very important that they receive a warm & friendly welcome; someone to help them with planning their special day and/or occasion. If you may be interested call 07766 227 536 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Our recycling project is growing from strength to strength. We get 1-2p for every item we recycle. However in order to get this money we have to sort through hundreds of donated items.
We are looking for volunteers with a real interest in recycling. The job is very time consuming and we would really appreciate anyone who has a few hours to spare each week, to get in touch.
Volunteers can do any hours, any days.
Full training will be given.
We also have set days where people pop in and help – its a really lovely social event – Click here to download information

Day for Girls
Days for Girls (DfG) is a world-wide project which involves women coming together to make washable, easy to use, feminine hygiene kits for girls in developing countries. In some countries, due to poverty, many girls have no feminine hygiene provision and can’t go to school during menstruation, therefore missing out on large parts of their education. (1 week in 4)
We currently run small & friendly monthly workshops (Thurs evening / Sat morning) for women of all ages to help make up the low cost, cleverly designed kits, which are then packed by volunteers and delivered to the girls and women. Any skills (machine sewing, cutting, pinning, hand sewing, etc)
Come along to help make a difference and help change lives!
“Give a shift”
Some of our domestic abuse services would not be available if it wasn’t for the success of our charity shops AND the charity shops would not be successful if it wasn’t for the dedication of a great team of volunteers.
Do you think you would like to join them in ‘making a difference’?
Could you come just for a shift to try it out?
We need help in any area – sorting, pricing, ironing, cleaning, serving and/or till work? IT REALLY CAN BE WHATEVER YOU LIKE DOING
For more information – pop in to any of our shops (link to page) or call us on 07766 227 536 and we will be happy to talk to you.
