The Power of Volunteers… Why We Simply Couldn’t Do It Without Them

At Women’s Aid North East Lincs, everything we do starts with people.

The women and children we support. The communities we serve. And the volunteers who make it all possible.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of our organisation.

They bring energy, care, time and dedication. Not for praise or payment but because they want to make a difference.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’ve been shining a light on the many roles they play and just how essential they are to our work.

The Friendly Faces in Our Shops

Our charity shops are a key part of how we raise funds to keep our services running.

Walk into any of our shops and you’ll be greeted by someone who’s giving up their time to help others.

Our shop volunteers are the ones sorting stock, steaming clothes, serving customers and creating the friendly, welcoming feel we’re so proud of.

They help raise vital funds but also build real community connections, often just by offering a kind word, a listening ear or a bit of local chat.

It’s more than just a shop.

And that’s thanks to them.

Some of our volunteers work quietly in the background.

You might not see them, but their impact runs through everything we do.

They organise, label, lift, fix, tidy, collect and clean.

They keep things flowing so the rest of us can focus on the front line and they take on the practical tasks that often go unnoticed but are absolutely essential.

They are the glue that holds things together, and we are endlessly grateful for them.

From cake sales to sponsored walks, raffle nights to awareness events, our fundraising volunteers pour in passion by the bucketload, as well as generously giving their time and effort to bring people together and raise money for the cause.

They think of new ideas, get stuck in and rally support from friends, family and local businesses.

They don’t just raise funds, they raise awareness, open doors, and help more people hear about the work we do.

And we can’t thank them enough.

The ones who simply say, “How can I help?”

Not everyone volunteers in a formal role.

Some lend a van. Some turn up when an extra pair of hands is needed. Some share a skill or fill a gap, and some help just once, when the timing is right.

They might not see themselves as ‘volunteers’, but they are.

And every bit of support they offer helps us go further, support more people and make a bigger impact.

Your support is invaluable, and we thank you.

Volunteers make it possible

Every single volunteer plays a part in helping us support women and children experiencing domestic abuse.

They give their time, their energy and their heart, and because of that, we’re able to keep doing what we do.

Whether you love chatting to customers, enjoy tidying and organising, or simply want to give back to your community, we’ve got a role that fits.

We’re looking for volunteers to join our friendly teams in our charity shops at Hainton Square, Grimsby Road, Nunsthorpe or The Willows.

Just three hours a week can make a real difference to the women and children we support.

Morning or afternoon, one day or more…

There’s something to suit everyone.

Pop into one of our shops or call us on 01472 575757 to find out how to get involved.
