A moment we’ve been working towards

March marked something really special for us.
We opened our newest charity shop in Immingham, making it our sixth location across North East Lincolnshire.
Alongside our shops in Hainton, Tiverton, Nunsthorpe and Willows, and our online store, this new space represents more than just another shop. It’s a return to a community we are proud to be part of.
Being back in Immingham matters to us, not just because of the location, but because of the people. It’s an opportunity to reconnect, to rebuild and to create a space that feels welcoming and accessible to everyone.
More than a shop
Our charity shops are often seen as places to pick up a bargain or donate pre-loved items and they are that but they are also so much more.
They are community spaces.
Places where conversations happen, where people feel comfortable walking in, where there's always a friendly face and where everyone is welcome.
For some, it might be a quick visit. For others, it becomes part of their routine and something they look forward to.
At the same time, these shops are a vital part of how we fund our work. Every item sold helps us continue supporting those experiencing domestic abuse across North East Lincolnshire, especially at a time when demand is high and funding is limited.
Powered by people
None of this happens without our volunteers.
Across our shops, we now have over 150 volunteers and that number continues to grow.
Each person brings something different, whether that’s confidence on the shop floor, care and attention behind the scenes, or simply a willingness to get involved and learn.
There is no 'one way' to volunteer with us.
Some people prefer working in the back of the shop, sorting donations, preparing stock or helping with displays. Others enjoy being front of house, welcoming customers, working on the till and creating a positive experience for everyone who walks through the door.
What we hear time and time again is that people gain just as much as they give. Confidence grows, skills develop and friendships form.
A shared sense of pride
There is something powerful about being part of something that makes a difference locally.
Every shop, including our new Immingham space, is built on that shared sense of purpose.
Whether you donate a bag, buy an item or give a few hours of your time, you are part of something bigger.
And for us, being back in Immingham feels like an important step forward.
You are always welcome
If you’re local to Immingham or any of our shop areas, we’d love to see you.
You can support us by shopping, donating or volunteering. Even a small amount of time can make a real difference and there's always a place for you within our team.
However you show up, we look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our newest addition to Women's Aid NEL Retail.
